Teams

At Wissahickon Youth Wrestling, our practice approach is structured, progressive, and age-appropriate—designed to develop each athlete’s skills, confidence, and physical fitness at every level of experience. Practices are tailored by team level, starting with foundational instruction and movement for beginners (white team), progressing to technical refinement and conditioning for intermediate wrestlers (blue team), and advancing to high-intensity drilling and live wrestling for our most experienced athletes (gold team).
Every practice follows a structure that includes warm-ups, stretching, technique instruction, situational drills, and live wrestling. Beyond physical development, we place a strong emphasis on character building, sportsmanship, discipline, and teamwork.
Wrestlers are encouraged to embrace challenges, show respect, and develop mental toughness through consistent effort. Our coaches foster a culture where hard work, focus, and positive attitudes are valued as highly as technical progress. Whether a beginner or a seasoned competitor, each athlete is supported with purposeful training that strengthens both their wrestling skills and personal growth—on and off the mat.
